Carcinoma Kingdom
A Neon Twilight & Branded Demons Poem
Surfacing from sunburst sagebrush,
With crowns of eldritch black,
And robes of earthen slack.
Circling their hunter in a hush.
Setting upon the snake in a rush.
Tear their prey with horns called cancer,
When arcana is to blame.
These hares, no longer game,
Make war as hideous lancers,
To the Burrow Lord’s call, they answer.
Their taint despoils desert sand.
Blasted trees loom lonely,
Over realms unholy.
Hot wind pits plentiful bones, and
Ceaseless screaming tortures the land.
The viral curse proliferates,
And no reason remains.
Blind hatred takes the reins.
Even humans avoid their gates,
Enter their domain and seal your fates
Catch the eye of a jackalope,
And death becomes your last, best hope.
